Impacts on Student Learning and Skills and Implementation Challenges of Two Student-Centered Learning Methods Applied in Online Education

Online education became more prevalent during the COVID-19 pandemic in many countries around world, including Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. This study aims at assessing impacts on learning and skills of two student-centered instructional strategies (problem-based (PBL) just-in-time teaching (JiTT)) used online their implementation challenges. The PBL JiTT were implemented modules taught various courses delivered different bachelor’s levels disciplines. research a mixed design method. Quantitative data collected from exam scores self-administered surveys. Qualitative using individual structured interviews. lecture-based method was for comparisons. A total 134 students participated quizzes exams, 85 completed self-perceived survey, 82 challenges survey. Ten Tests survey showed that both had significant these effects are consistent across non-conducive climate, internet connectivity problems, heavy workloads, time management issues reported as can be considered effective teaching/learning education.
